Saman Mahdavi
Saman Mahdavi is a versatile artist who seamlessly integrates images (taswir), text, movement, and installation into their practice.
Saman’s work delves into the somatic movements of hands and palms, exploring their connection to daydreaming and poetry. A distinctive aspect of Saman’s art lies in the proximity of movement and political struggle, serving as a poignant manifesto. They dedicated their practice to crafting creative endeavours that resonate with themes of the Middle East, aesthetics of ruin, contemporary crises, and ancient wisdom. In Saman’s poetic realm, hands become a symbolic mirror reflecting the enduring fire of the soul. Their creations are marked by a profound fascination with heat. With a background in theatre and dramatic literature, Saman earned a BA from the Art University of Tehran and is continuing their studies at SNDO.
Saman exhibited work in both Tehran, Beirut, and Amsterdam, engaging in collaborative projects with fellow artists in these vibrant artistic communities.
