Mehdi Blackwind
Mehdi Blackwind is a rapper who comes from Salé, a marginalized city on the outskirts of the capital, Rabat. After The Black Wind Crew, he joined in 2013 L'Bassline, a collectif that brings together rappers from different cities in Morocco. They released their first track under the title “Keep it real“. In 2015, Mehdi started his solo career.
His rap, engaged by its messages and eminently political, is part of the underground movement. He is a one of the icons of the Boom bap in the North African scene. Mehdi is involved in both social and alternative movements in Morocco and also active in the libertarian anarchist movement in Europe. If he uses rap as a tool to produce politics, it is not his only one. His cinema so-called social represents an instrument that feeds and dialogues with his militant and demanding discourse.
